Saying Goodbye to Centuries
For over a year, Centuries has been the beating heart of our ambition at Eiffel Studios. What began as a bold idea—a vast world-shifting Roblox game blending history, technology, and high-stakes adventure—quickly became the most ambitious project we'd ever taken on. And for that reason, we've spent the past several months grappling with an incredibly difficult decision.
Today, we want to share with you, openly and honestly, that we have decided to cancel the development of Centuries.
This article isn't just an announcement.. It's a story. A story of passion, challenge, self-reflection, and ultimately, a redirection of our studio's vision.
The Dream That Started It All
When we first began imagining Centuries in 2023, the idea felt electric. It was a world of shifting timelines, dynamic factions, and choice-based consequences. Players were able to go back in time, to 1854, and explore the wild west world, explore many different towns and cities, and make decisions that shaped the world around them. It was daring, different, and deeply exciting.
For a team as small as ours, this was no small feat.
But we believed in it. We worked tirelessly to craft systems, environments, lore, and visuals that could match the ambition of AAA games within the limitations of ROBLOX.
We talked about it to many people. We teased it with trailers and consistent posts and updates. We marked it as one of our new flagship titles. And we meant every word we said. But ambition can only go so far without the structure and capacity to support it.
The Many Challenges We Faced
As the weeks turned to months, we began to feel the weight of what we were building. Eiffel Studios is a small company. We're all extremely passionate, but not wealthy. Creative, but limited in time and resources. And while Centuries deserved every ounce of attention, other parts of the studio began to suffer.
We had other games, services, and commitments that couldn't be paused indefinitely. Team members felt stretched thin. We started missing internal milestones. It became clear that completing Centuries would either take several more years.. or come at the cost of everything else we're trying to build.
We weren't just burning out. We were breaking down.
Making the decision.
It took weeks of long, difficult conversations. We didn't want to cancel Centuries. We didn't want to let down anyone who had been watching it grow. And most importantly, we didn't want to go back on our word.
After weeks and weeks, we thought we could just put development on a hiatus, but eventually, we realised that keeping Centuries alive "just because we said we would" was hurting us more than helping. It was taking away time from other amazing things we could—and should—be working on. It was making our work lives stressful and unsustainable. And it was ultimately a promise we were no longer equipped to keep.
So we made the call. Not with resentment. Not with failure. But with clarity.
What Happens Next
With Centuries now officially cancelled, we're shifting our focus.
We're putting more energy into our live services, our other games, and the Eiffel Studios experience as a whole. We're building smarter, tighter, and in ways that reflect our team's strengths and realities.
Some ideas from Centuries may live on.. Reimagined and repurposed into smaller experiences down the line. We're not throwing away the dream. We're reshaping it.
Possibly some of you may have been excited for Centuries, and we were too. And we are thankful for any support we had.
A Final Word
Cancelling a project like this isn't a sign of defeat. It is a step forward.
We're proud of everything Centuries represented.
But more than that, we're proud to have the courage to say: We're going in a different direction, and that's okay.
Thank you for being part of this 2-year journey. Eiffel Studios isn't slowing down, we're just realigning the path. And EFLS may even be faster with other projects afterwards.
With love,
The Eiffel Studios team.
